Vikings test ski skills against downstate varsity teams

    MARS HILL – Presque Isle’s Lucas Mathers proved his speed down the slopes, winning both the slalom and giant slalom in Saturday’s ski meet at Big Rock including John Bapst, Bangor, Ellsworth, Mattanawcook, Lee Academy, Greenville, Central Aroostook, Caribou, Fort Kent and Madawaska.     Mathers crossed the end of the slope in 1:27.39 in the slalom and in 1:17.12 in the giant slalom.

    In the girls’ slalom, Central Aroostook’s Paige Findlen sailed to the finish first for the County in seventh place in 1:47.99.     Presque Isle’s Steeves careened into first-place in the giant slalom in 1:22.59. Central Aroostook’s Brooke Smith crossed into second in 1:24.52.
