To the editor:
Last Friday night, the Northestland Hotel ballroom was the site of a benefit dance for the Central Aroostook Mentoring Program (CAMP) and BRIDGES/Transitions Program. Fifty-five people thoroughly enjoyed the 1950s-‘60s music provided by the Sound Friendships Band. Both the site and the music were donated to support mentoring in central Aroostook, as January is National Mentoring Month. While attending the event, we spoke to one of the singers in the band about their giving back to the community through their performances at benefit dances and events. She told us they have raised over a quarter of a million dollars for worthy causes throughout the last 10 years. I would like to sincerely thank all of the members of the band for their generosity and caring. It takes practice, a great deal of time to organize and set up the equipment when they perform, as well as the time playing at the event.
Our hats off to you — Steve Mazerolle, Marcus Barresi, Andy Rebscher, Sam Barrett and Lela Lyons!
