    Caribou – Larry David Doody, 55, died unexpectedly February 29, 2008, at New Sweden doing what he loved the most, going fast on his snowsled. He was born in Caribou August 25, 1952, the son of David and Louise (Erickson) Doody.Image     “Crazy Larry“, a true “Maine Legend” was the proud owner of Doody’s Sled Shop. He spent many happy days racing at and running Spud Speedway. Racing was one of the true passions in Larry’s life and he was a true Dale Earnhardt fan. Larry loved life and believed in living each day to its fullest. He spent many of his days volunteering in the community for local charities. Larry was a longtime member of the Caribou Lions Club where he  was awarded the Melvin Jones Fellow Award by Lions Club International in 2006. With the heart of a child in mind he often reached out anonymously to make a child’s dream come true, but it always brought a tear to his eye knowing that a child was in need.
    Larry is survived by his
son Jason Doody and wife Jen of Vancouver, WA, his sister Linda Pelletier and her husband Sonny of Mapleton, Several  nieces, nephews, and cousins. He will be remembered and missed by Becky and Aubrey Cummings. Cameron Ouellette, his grandson, was one of the most important children in his life. Larry considered Mark Nadeau to be a brother. His closest companion was his dog Buster.
    A celebration of Larry’s life took place 3 p.m. Tuesday March 4, 2008, at the Mockler Funeral Home, 24 Reservoir Street, Caribou with Bill Harris officiating.
