Student rights lost at salad bar

Aren’t salad bars wonderful?  They are a healthy alternative to the lunches served in the cafeteria.  Our salad bar has a rule.  You must take one item from each of the major food groups.     So, not only is our right to choose taken away from us, but we are forced to take something we may not like and then throw it out instead of saving it for someone that might like that item.
A lot of us like the chips and salsa that is served.  But, have you ever eaten salsa and ham?  No, that is because some of us wouldn’t choose to have ham and salsa together, so I end up throwing away perfectly good ham for no reason.
We should be able to take what we like on the salad bar and save everyone the problem of checking our trays and making sure we don’t have too much of one item and not enough of the other items available.
