Allen Oak and George Howe, Jr. returned to the University of Maine after spending a short vacation at their homes in Caribou

    A horse belonging to James Brown became frightened at the thrill of the pung dropping and dashed wildly down the street, bringing up in front of Cark-Jerrands’ dry good store. The pung was pretty well demolished, but fortunately Mr. Brown was not injured.
The Lister school in District 22, taught by Mrs. Dora W. Kelly, closed on March 27.
Miss Jennie Bell, telephone operator at Mars Hill spent Sunday at her home in Caribou.
Ransford Shaw expected to build a new house on the farm purchased by him of E.J. Philbrook. The work was under the supervision of E.F. Shaw.
Donald, the little son of the Rev. T.J. Ramsdell, who has been very sick with whooping cough and pneumonia, was reported to be very much improved.

An epidemic of rabies was considered serious in the central part of the state.
The Aroostook Trust Co. won the praise of Chief Justice Pattangall during a hearing involving several county banks.
Mrs. and Mrs. Stanley Leonard were congratulated on the birth of a baby girl on April 7.
R.H. Frost, a sophomore at the University of Pennsylvania, was elected to assistant swimming manager at the university.
The Girl Scouts movement in Caribou in on the increase.
The Red Cross workers, who formally met at the home of Mrs. George O. Fogelin, changed the meeting place to the Stockholm Town Office.

The Catholic Youth Organization held a post-season basketball tournament.
The Caribou Budget Committee met to consider a new school building and expansion of the municipal airport.
The J.C. Penney store celebrated its 50th anniversary in Caribou.
Frederick Johnson of Caribou was appointed manager of Maine Potato Growers Inc.
Mr. and Mrs. Johnny Sodergren were congratulated on the birth of a baby girl, who arrived after three sons.

Caribou school system teachers received a 4 percent wage increase.
Potato prices continued a three-week climb to a high of $8 a barrel.
The Caribou Ames Store opened at Skyway Plaza.
The Caribou High School volleyball team won the Aroostook County title.
Barbara E. Keenan was the valedictorian at CHS.
Dave Corriveau of Caribou was appointed a local agent for State Farm Insurance Co.
