To the editor:
Our men and women of the United States Armed Forces make sacrifices every day. Having a family is hard on any soldier. We have been concentrating on our soldiers overseas, but what about the families that they leave behind for months on end. The month of April is dedicated to the Military Child. Most military families are always remembered at the holiday season, but what about the everyday life experiences. There are ways to say “thank you” to a military child in your neighborhood. How about taking them to the bowling alley for a game or two, play checkers or card games, put a puzzle together, read a story, make cookies, color, just to name a few.
We are putting together “special Thank You boxes” for the military children in our area. We are collecting playing cards, books, stationary items, hand held games, and anything else you would like to add.
Remember these children sacrifice their dads, moms, brothers, sisters, uncles, aunts and even grandparents to serve our country.
