Phipps recognized for decade of ‘loyal dedication’
PATTEN — “You make the difference,” reads the plaque Katahdin Valley Health Center’s (KVHC) Chief Executive Office Durward Humphrey and KVHC Board Chair Linda Goodall presented to John ‘Jack’ Phipps at its recent Board of Directors meeting held at KVHC’s Patten medical clinic.

Phipps was presented the award for his “loyal dedication and unwavering commitment” in his capacity as an active member of KVHC’s board of directors for the past decade.
“My years with KVHC have been rewarding and I shall fondly hold the memories of my time with the Health Center. I remember the early years as a roller coaster ride and the later years a journey of growth, expansion and improvement. All of those experiences, whether turbulent or uplifting, have not only made KVHC stronger, but they have enhanced my own personal and professional life.
“The friendships forged during my time on the board shall be cherished forever. Rarely does a person have the opportunity to serve with such a diverse, focused and professional group. Carrying memories, friendships, experiences and healthcare education, I head to the Midwest. I leave the Board with the assurance that I aspire to proffer those assets in service to a medical center near my new home.”
“Thank you for your outstanding contributions toward our goals, and for making our organization stand above the rest,” remarked Humphrey, as he and Goodall presented the award.
Phipps, a senior accountant with National Starch Company in Island Falls who has served on KVHC’s board of directors for the past ten years, most recently as vice president, is relocating to National Starch’s facility in Indianapolis, Ind.
