PI Elks win bowling tourney

    WOODLAND – Striking out the competition, two Presque Isle bowling teams from Northern Lanes took first and second place in the Eastern Maine Bowling Tournament held in Woodland from April 2-5. Presque Isle Elks No. 2 bowled to first place with a 29-7 record and 15,366 points in the tournament, which included teams from Woodland, Calais and Houlton. Presque Isle Elks No. 1 ended in second with a 22-14 record and 15,316 points.

    Trinity Lodge, also of Presque Isle, took sixth with a 20-16 record and 14,881 points. The top six players  by average were named tournament all-stars. These bowlers were Dave Donahue (PI1) 121.15, Mike Lee (PI2) 118.33, Tom Pelkey (TL) 118.19, Donnie Lindsay (Calais No. 1) 117.81, Rick Tidd (Houlton Elks No. 1) 117.19 and Larry Pulcifur (PI1) 116.89.
    Remaining Presque Isle averages follow: Moe Collins (PI2) 116.30, Terry Grant (TL) 115.56, Wayne Nickerson (PI2) 113.44, Joe Dunn (PI2) 112.74, Matt Simonds (TL) 112.00, George Micheal (PI1) 111.50, Randy Hitchcock (PI1) 109.93, Kevin Wilson (TL) 109.71, John Good (PI1) 109.04, Rick Curtis (PI2) 108.30, Mike Patenaude (TL) 107.19, Craig Trombley (PI1) 104.67 and Larry Good (TL) 98.63.
