In addition to extended open gym hours each day but Thursday, the following activities will take place: Monday: Contest day at open gym. Children in grades one to six can come demonstrate their skills at checkers, pop-a-shot, connect four and ping pong from 1 to 3 p.m. The gym will also be open for kids to shoot around.
Tuesday: Bowling at Northern Lanes. This is open for children in grades one to eight. For $3, children may bowl from 10 a.m. to noon. Children must have their own transportation to and from the bowling alley. Wiffleball Home Run Derby at the recreation center. This is for children in grades five to eight. Stop by between 3 and 5 p.m. and see how many you can hit into the net.
Wednesday: Movie day at the Caribou Cinemas. This is open for children through grade five. For $5 children get a movie, small soda and small popcorn. The bus leaves at 12:15 p.m. and will be back around 3 p.m.

Instead the children receive a bag of coins to use to play an array of games. At the completion, the children cash in their remaining coins for a bag of goodies. The $1 admission cost also provides a chance to win a bike. The event runs from 1:30 to 3 p.m.
Friday: Roller skating in Caribou. This is open for children in grades one to eight. Come glide along to great tunes with your friends. Just $4 pays for a roller skate rental (rollerblades are an additional $2). The bus leaves at 9 a.m. and will return at noon. Dollar day at the Indoor Pool. From 3 to 4:45 p.m., Presque Isle residents can swim at the Indoor Pool for just a dollar.
Friday’s open gym will be the last open gym until November. Please look for the summer brochure to be coming out soon.
