Houlton – Margaret McGillicuddy Welton, 88, died April 19, 2008, at her residence. She was born Nov. 4, 1919, at Houlton, the daughter of James W. and Elva (Victory) McGillicuddy.
Margaret was a communicant of Saint Mary of the Visitation Church and a member of the Houlton American Legion Women’s Auxiliary, where she was the eldest and longest living member. Throughout her adult life Margaret worked for several area Florist and Greenhouse Company’s and was a long time employee for the Edwin Vail Family.
She is survived by her children Kenneth Welton and his wife Sue of New Glouster, Mary Garnier and her husband Tom of West Columbia, SC; grandchildren, Kenneth Welton Jr., Michelle Welton, Mike Reid; three great-grandchildren; two sisters, Helen Craine and her husband Edmund of Presque Isle, Ruth Rau of Phoenix, AZ; and several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her husband, Martin E. Welton; four brothers, John, Maurice, Gerald and Donald McGillicuddy; and a sister, Alice O’Donnell.
Friends may call at Dunn Funeral Home 6 to 8 p.m. Friday. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 10 a.m. Saturday at Saint Mary of the Visitation Church. Interment will take place in the Maine Veterans Cemetery, Augusta.
