Caswell elects leaders

Caswell residents gathered for their annual town meeting to reelect local officials and approve a warrant raising money for local government from an agenda that has been about the same for several years.     Town Clerk Paula Peers said the March 28 meeting attracted 24 people.
Donna Bernier was elected as moderator for the annual session.
Reelected to their posts with no opposition were Scott St. Pierre to a three-year term as a selectman and Claudette Roy to the Caswell School Board.
Peers was reelected as town clerk with Elyesse Bernier reelected as treasurer and tax collector.
Nominations for the positions were made from the floor the evening of the meeting.
The municipal budget, which has not changed, is expected to keep the current tax rate at $19 per $1,000 of valuation, Peers said. The total amount raised and appropriated was $151,315.86, according to Peers.
The school budget will be considered during another town meeting in late May and during the June primary, Peers explained.
