The Northern Maine Chamber Society Orchestra is planning their spring concerts.
The format this year is reversed; Presque Isle and Houlton locations have traded times for the two-concert series. The Houlton concert will be held on Saturday, April 26 at 7 p.m. at the First Congregational Church on High Street. The Presque Isle concert will be Sunday, April 27 at 2 p.m. at the Campus Student Center at the University of Maine.
The orchestra is in its third year with conductor Waldo Caballero who teaches in Orono and plays with the Bangor Symphony. Members of the group come from as far away as St. Agatha, Fosterville, N.B. and Bangor, but most are professional teachers from the County and their advanced students.
This is an all-volunteer group doing its best to bring high quality classical music to the area.
The program will feature works by Mendelsshon, Elgar, Gliere, Mozart and John Williams. Also, at the Presque Isle concert, Aroostook Youth Orchestra will perform under the direction of concert mistress Susann Herold.
The public is cordially invited to attend free of charge, however, donations will be gratefully accepted. Presque Isle residents should take note of the earlier starting time.
