PRESQUE ISLE – The Nordic Heritage Sport Club is getting a jump on the summer biking season with its ‘Kick Off Ride’ on Saturday, June 1 from 1 to 4 p.m.
GETTING READY – Greater Houlton Christian Academy Headmaster Mark Jago talks with Kyle Carver, left, and Matthew Crane during the Pre-K and Kindergarten bike-a-thon activity. The younger boys raced trucks and the girls their strollers as a fun activity to get students geared up for the annual event. GHCA students are collecting pledges for their annual bike-a-thon on June 7.
The event is designed for beginner to intermediate riders ages 14 and up. Experts from local bike retailers Rocky Mountain Sports and Mojo Sports will conduct educational sessions on bicycle maintenance and techniques for mountain biking, and NHSC members will provide guided tours of the Nordic Heritage Center trails.
NHSC Members will also host a post-ride BYOGI (bring your own grilling items) BBQ at the lodge. Attendees are invited to bring their favorite foodstuffs for the grill. The club will provide cups, plates, napkins and silverware, as well as the BBQ grill.
