Memorial Day visitors

Memorial Day guest of Clayton and Priscilla Varney has been their son, Nicky, who arrived from Winterport on Saturday. While here he helped his folks to open up their camp on Mattawamkeag Lake for the summer. Nicky returned home to Winterport on Monday afternoon.
Returned
Mrs. Maurice Porter has returned home after spending a week with daughter, Lynn, in North Carolina. Mr. and Mrs Malcolm Palmer have returned to their home here in Island Falls after spending the winter months at their home in Florida.
Visitors
Mary Lou Pomeroy and daughter, Jane Foster, were visitors  in Island Falls recently,  and while here had a visit to Country Creations on Harding Street which will be closing business soon.
Around the house
I don’t have many birds now so the visits to the bird feeders are few and far between. I have had one rose-breasted grosbeek coming every day, though, so I keep some seeds for him (or her). The menagerie has dwindled down quite a bit since the cold weather and snow has departed.
I have finally gotten my garden planted and am now busy planting my flower garden despite the zillion of black flies that attack me when I am busy outside.
I haven’t seen any deer in my back lot for two or three days so guess they are in the middle of the fawn season. Maybe in late June or early July I will have new fawns leaping around my lawns.
