Rec sponsors tennis ladder tourney

    This summer, the Houlton Parks & Recreation Department will be sponsoring a Tennis Ladder Tournament for Houlton area adults.  
    To register, call the recreation department at 532-1310 by June 13.
    A Tennis Ladder Tournament is a competition arranged by challenge. Players are placed on the ladder by lot, and a player may challenge either of the two players above him/her. If the challenger wins, he/she exchanges places with the loser on the ladder.
     Games will be scheduled at a player’s own convenience. The tournament winner will be determined by the two top-seeded players meeting in a final game.  
    The cost to participate will be $5 for Houlton residents and $7.50 for non-Houlton residents, with the money going towards awards for the top two finishers.
    The tournament will begin the week of June 23 and run for eight weeks. This tournament should enable participants to play a variety of competitors and in the process improve their game of tennis.
    A set of rules will be given at the time of payment for the tournament.
