FORT FAIRFIELD – The dates for the 2008 Tiger Basketball Camp have been set for June 23 to June 27 for boys and July 7 to July 11 for girls. The camp, under the direction of Larry Gardner, is open to boys and girls presently in grades one through eight.     “We are very excited to be able to offer this type of basketball camp, and are very fortunate to have outstanding coaches and role models working our camp,” stated Gardner.
Two University of Maine at Orono players will be among the coaches working at this year’s camp. Tanna Ross, a 5-foot-11-inch forward from Hampden, and Christina Mosher, a 6-foot-2-inch center from Farmington, are players on the University Of Maine women’s basketball team coached by Cindy Blodgett, and are looking forward to working with the young players.
“We are very happy to have both Tanna and Christina here at camp this year,” said Gardner. “Coach Blodgett had spoken very highly of them, and we feel they will add a great deal to the camp experience for all those attending. All our campers will have to chance to talk with them and learn what the college basketball experience is really like.”
The boys’ and girls’ camps will be limited to the first 150 applicants, and will be held at the Fort Fairfield High School gyms. The camp will run from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. each day.
The camp provides each player with an opportunity to develop his or her basketball skills through drills, games, films and lectures while offering a competitive and fun atmosphere.
Registration forms are available online at www.msad20.org, as well as recreation centers.
