Kevin Simmons, right, owner of the Caribou and Presque Isle Inns and Convention Centers, holds the American Cancer Survivor banner last weekend along with his mother, Jean, as they participate in the American Cancer Society’s Relay for Life Survivor’s Lap, held at the community college in Presque Isle.
Simmons, now cancer free, was first diagnosed with AML-leukemia in 2005. His presence at the Relay for Life event, marked the first time he has been back to the county since November, 2006. In next week’s edition of the Aroostook Republican and News there will be a complete article of Simmons’ illness and the drive and belief that will allow him to be back in the county and at the reins of his businesses, in the not too distant future.
