Girls only ATV ride
    The Aroostook Riders ATV Club will hold a “Ponytail Ride” – girls only — on Wednesday, July 30. Riders will leave Ken’s store at 1 p.m. Bring a snack. Rain date is Thursday, July 31.
Scores an ace
    Sandra Anderson, a summer resident of at Bracket Lake, scored a hole-in-one at the Mars Hill Country Club on July 1.
    Anderson hit her ace on hole 13, a par 3, 120 yards.
Youth soccer camp
    A soccer camp is scheduled at Katahdin High School for July 21-24 under the direction of Matt Lindsay and Athletic Director Phil Faulkner.
    For those in grades 4-6 the camp will run from 8:30-10:30 a.m., followed by a second camp for youth in grades 7-9 from 10:30 a.m.-12:30 p.m.
    The camp will be held at the Bob Dyer Soccer Field.
Littleton Swim Program
    The Littleton Swim Program will be held July 21-24 at Raymond and Sandra Wotton’s pool on North Road in Littleton.
    Cost for residents is $10 and non-residents $30.

Houlton to host chess tourney
    Houlton will host its first open tournament at the First Congregational Church on 45 High St. from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.  on Saturday.
    All chess players welcomed.
Dutch Soccer Camp
    Just a reminder to area youth that Dutch Soccer Academy Camp will be held the week of July 21.  Youth in grades K-4 will meet from 9 a.m.-12 p.m. and youth in grades 5-8 will meet from 4-7p.m. at the Houlton High School soccer field.  
    Participants are reminded to bring a water bottle, wear shin guards, cleats/sneakers, comfortable clothing and bring a soccer ball.  
    Fall  soccer Program
    The Houlton Parks and Recreation Department will be sponsoring four age groups of youth soccer this fall. If your child has not already registered, registrations will be accepted until August 7 at the main office.
    The age groups are as follow: Grades K-1, 2-3, girls 4-6 and boys 4-6.  Practices will begin the week of August 12.

Discount Ticket Sale
    The Houlton Recreation Department is selling discount tickets to Funtown/Splashtown in Saco and Water Country in Portsmouth, N.H.  
    The combo pass for Saco is $25 per person and the passes for Water Country are $28. Participants will save over 25 percent per ticket.
    To pick up tickets, drop by the Houlton Recreation Department Monday through Thursday between 8 a.m. -1p.m.  For more information, call 532-1310.
Senior LL players advance
    In the District 3 Senior League, the Katahdin Valley all-stars picked up their first loss, 4-1 to Brewer on Sunday.
    Dakota Sleeper keyed Katahdin Valley’s offense with a double and single.
    In Junior League action, Brewer blanked Katahdin Valley 12-0 on Sunday, as Katahdin Valley was eliminated from the all-star tournament.
    Ryland King, Brady McNally, Mickey Savage and Jake Lassonde all singled for Katahdin Valley.
