Farewell party planned for Bradley

Organizations
Tomorrow, Aug. 14, there will be a special open house held at the Easton Town Office from 1-4 p.m. for retiring Town Manager Jackie Bradley. Jackie has served the town very satisfactorily, over the span of 23 years, and the town will be sorry to see her retire.

This reception is open to friends and colleagues who have worked with Jackie or been served by her in years past.  Please come and wish her the very best in her retirement.
Visits
Craig Johnson flew into the County to visit with friends and relatives week before last, staying with Margaret Wright, in Presque Isle. He also spent some time visiting with an uncle, Bernard Hussey, in Easton. He returned home on Tuesday, Aug. 5.
Clair and Eldora Carter recently returned from nearly a week’s visit with their children in the Portland area. They stayed with their son and daughter-in-law, Dana and Kimberley Carter, and their children, Jeremy, Emily and Molly, in Scarborough, and were visited by Michael and Beth from Portland, and attended church with them on Sunday evening. They also had supper with son Wendell and Doreen and son, Kyle, on Monday night in Saco. Wendell and his family had just returned from Rochester, N.Y., where Kyle enjoyed a visit to the college in that city. The Carters’ visit was hampered a bit by the rain that came down sometime every day. On their way to Scarborough, they stopped over night with Eldora’s brother and wife, Darrell and Norma Porter, spending their first night in their new home in Gardiner.
Our congratulations goes out to Valerie Martin Carmer, the daughter of Vaughn and Laurie Martin, of Easton, who was recently named to the dean’s list at Indiana Wesleyan University in Marion, Ind., for the spring semester of the 2008 academic year. To be named to the dean’s list, a student must obtain a 3.5 grade point average on a four-point scale and carry at least 12 credit hours for the semester. Valerie was married on May 25, 2008 to Ryan Carmer, formerly of New York. They now make their home in Ashville, N.C.
Our congratulations also go out to those students, from Easton, who attend the University of Maine at Presque Isle, on being named to the dean’s list for this spring semester. To be named to the dean’s list a student must attain a GPA of 3.3 or higher. Those listed were: Amy Barnes, Tyler Bradley, Steven Callioras, Brandon Carlow, Janelle Desmond, Abby Gray, Brittany Banks Hickey, Stephen Hopkins, Tessa Ireland, Brandon Marquis and Korrin Patterson. Again, smart young people, most of them coming from the small Easton Jr./Sr. High School. Well done!
We also wish happy birthdays today, Aug. 13, to: Diane Green, Julie Bouchard, Brandon Carlow, Loren White, John Young, Donna Allen and Tim Rooney. For tomorrow, Aug. 14, we wish the same to: Devin Gray and Vaughn Carter and very happy wedding anniversaries to Andy and Nicole King and Julie and Matt Nadeau.

A DYED-IN-THE-WOOL Republican, Tyler Clark, who is running for state representative, appeared in Easton’s parade with the Republican symbol. Clark is young but very determined to do his best for the state, if elected.
