BHA
The Bridgewater Historical Society is continuing with their live music on Thursday evenings from 6 – 9 p.m. A special “Frozen Sounds” music night is planned for Aug. 21. Those making a donation will receive either a dish of ice cream or an ice cream float. All proceeds from the music nights will be used to update the buildings sound system.
On Saturday, Aug. 23, the group is planning a Potluck Supper at 5 p.m. Bring a dish to share and enjoy getting together with new and old friends.
A Bake Sale is planned for Saturday, Sept. 6, from 9 a.m. – 1 p.m. All proceeds from the Potluck and Bake Sale will be used toward building maintenance.
The BHA would like to extend their thanks to all their contributors and supporters. All the help is greatly appreciated.

Boston Cane nominations
The Town of Mars Hill is asking for nominations for the Boston Cane. Please contact the Town Office with the name of whom you believe is the oldest citizen in town.
Charter Committee
The Mars Hill Charter Committee will be meeting on Sept. 15 at 6 p.m. in the Mars Hill Town Office. Any citizen wanting to make a suggestion for the Committee to review can do so by putting it in writing and mailing it to the Mars Hill Town Office, P. O. Box 449, Mars Hill, ME 04758.
Adult Education Program
The Mars Hill Adult Education Program is sponsoring a GPS class on Saturday, Aug. 30, from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. at Central Aroostook High School. Please call Kathy Miller at 425-3771 to register. The instructor will be Amanda Barker.
Library
There is much to do at the local library. In addition to books and periodicals, there is an Archive Room with many items to review about the history of the town. The Mars Hill newspapers are on microfilm and can be read on the viewer in the Archive Room. There are also computers available for the public to use to e-mail or surf the Net.

Rotary Club
The Mars Hill Rotary Club met at the Aroostook Health Center on Tuesday, Aug. 12, at 6:30 a.m.
The special speaker was Greg Day, a member of the SAD 42 School Board. He spoke of the school district reorganization plans and the work that has been done on this effort. The towns involved are Blaine, Bridgewater, Easton, Mars Hill, Perham, Wade and Washburn. There are a total of 1,069 students in the four schools.
There are 28 school board members and superintendents working on the consolidation plans. Subcommittee work is being done in four areas: Governance, Contracts/Educational Planning, Disposition of Property and Finance.
Bridgewater Creative Crafting
On the first and third Thursdays of each month at 6:30 p.m. at the Civic Community Center in Bridgewater, crafters are encouraged to join together to work on various projects. Bring your own supplies and projects as you share your knowledge of various crafts. Work together or individually with quilting, knitting, sewing, embroidery, crocheting, scrapbooking, etc. Everyone is welcome!
