Fest to feature comedy show Friday

    PRESQUE ISLE – This year’s Crown of Maine Balloon Fest is bringing “This Comedy Show is Rated PG-13” to the University of Maine at Presque Isle campus Friday, Aug. 22 at 8 p.m. in Wieden Auditorium.     Presque Isle native and nine-year comedy veteran, Ryan Gartley, will serve as opener and host for the evening’s events. Gartley is a former semi-finalist in the Portland and Boston Comedy Festivals and has opened for national acts like Lenny Clarke, Jeff Dunham, Steven Wright and Dave Coulier. The show’s two featured headliners are The “Reverend” Brian Giles from Portland and Steve Scarfo of Boston.
    Giles is a regular performer in the nationally acclaimed improve group, the Escapists, and has brought his brand of “hard-working, hard-rockin’ comedy” to audiences from New Orleans to Madawaska. Scarfo is a regular on the Boston scene and has been featured on the show “Caesars 24/7” and filmed scenes in “Fever Pitch” and “Gone, Baby, Gone.”
    Advance tickets to “This Comedy Show is Rated PG-13” can be purchased for $10 from the Presque Isle Chamber of Commerce, Country Collectibles, the UMPI Campus Center, and the Aroostook Centre Mall. Tickets purchased at the event cost $12. Doors open at 7 p.m.
