Currier studies abroad
COLCHESTER, Vt. – Jessica Currier, daughter of Richard and Susan Currier, of Presque Isle, is spending this summer studying abroad in Nicosia, Cyprus, through the Global Learning Semesters program organized by Saint Michael’s College. Currier is a student at Summer in the Mediterrean: Early Christianity.
She is a senior political science and religious studies double major at Saint Michael’s, a liberal arts, residential Catholic college located in the Burlington area of Vermont. Currier is a graduate of Presque Isle High School.
Duplessis completes certificate
Grand Forks ND — UND Aerospace student Andrew Duplessis of Presque Isle has received his private pilot certificate from the John D. Odergard School of Aerospace Sciences at the University of North Dakota. He is the son of Richard and Mary Duplessis of Presque Isle, and a 2007 graduate of Presque Isle High School. His designated major at this time is commercial aviation.
“To earn his private pilot certificate, Andrew successfully completed all academic and flight lab requirements as established by the Federal Aviation Administration and the John D. Odergard School of Aerospace Sciences at the University of North Dakota. Each certificate is a challenge to attain here at the University of North Dakota and Andrew should be commended for his achievements,” said UND Aerospace Dean Bruce Smith.
In 2008, UND Aerospace will be celebrating its 40th anniversary. A series of regional alumni gatherings will be held across the country, as well as several events during UND’s Homecoming and 125th anniversary on Oct. 13-19. Francoeur honored
Sarah Francoeur, of Presque Isle, was named to the honors list for the spring semester at Saint Joseph’s College in Standish.
Scott makes dean’s list
PAUL SMITHS, N.Y. – Nathan Ray Scott, of Washburn, has been named to the dean’s list at Paul Smith’s College for the spring 2008 semester. Scott is enrolled in the college’s Division of Hospitality, Resort and Culinary Management, and earned a semester average of 3.3 or higher to receive this distinction. In addition, Scott was named an Adirondack Scholar, having achieved a cumulative average of at least 3.8.
Sargent awarded doctorate
Dustin Sargent, of Hollis, was awarded the degree of doctor of pharmacy at the Albany College of Pharmacy commencement in Albany, N.Y. on Sunday May 11. Dustin has accepted a pharmacist position with CVS Pharmacy in Westbrook. Dustin is the grandson of Dean and Mavis Burtchell, of Mars Hill, and Ronald and Marie Sargent, of Bridgewater.
Saint Joseph’s dean’s list
The following students were named to the dean’s list for the spring semester at Saint Joseph’s College in Standish. The dean’s list includes students with a 3.5 to 4.0 grade point average. Local students include: Bradley Campbell, Caribou; Trisha Desjardins and Iris Guimond, Fort Kent; Jonathan Everett, Fort Fairfield; Jena Codrey and Jordan Hill, Houlton; and Kristen Cyr, Van Buren.
White makes president’s list
WALTHAM, Mass. – Bentley’s Provost and Vice President for Academic Affairs Robert D. Galliers and Dean of Arts and Science Catherine Davy recently named local student Nathaniel Bruce White, of Easton, to the president’s list. White has achieved extraordinary academic achievement in the spring 2008 semester as a senior majoring in accountancy. To be named to the president’s list, a full-time student must have a grade point average of 3.7 or higher with no course grade below 3.0 during the term.
