Young Marines visit Presque Isle Fire Deparment

Spinney gave the Young Marines the idea of how important discipline and training are in their everyday routine and training, and how very important fire safety is in their everyday lives.

    A GROUP OF LOCAL youth recently toured the Presque Isle Fire Department, learning the importance of discipline in training firefighters require to do their job efficiently and safely. Firefighters spent time with members of the County Patriot Young Marines, explaining the tools firefighters use on the job and how important safety is, both at work and at home. Participants in the tour included: 4 Cpl. Bonnie Corey, 4 Cpl. Lydia Short, 4 Cpl. Freeman Short, PFC Jasper Tamburello, PFC Kyle Kilcollins, PFC Rueben Roman, Pvt. Erica Corey, Pvt. Samantha Fisher, Pvt. Kaleb Donovan, Firefighter Kyle Bradley and Fire Prevention Officer Grant Spinney. The Young Marines are preparing for their annual summer campout at Aroostook State Park; the campout will include training and special events, such as a visit July 26 by the Maine State Police. About 20 youth and eight parents will join the 12-member staff for activities designed to teach discipline and respect of self and others.
