Benn, Col. Alyce J., 91, September 3, 2008.  Arrangements by Dunn Funeral Home, Houlton.  Interment was held in the Evergreen Cemetery.
Houlton and Woburn, MA – Col. Alyce J. Benn, US Army Nurse Corps Retired, 91, passed away September 3, 2008, at her home in Woburn, MA. She was born and raised in Houlton, the daughter of Dr. Chauncey and Pearl (Small) Benn.
    Alyce was a graduate of Houlton High School and the Lawrence Memorial School of Nursing in New London, CT. During World War II, Col. Benn served in the US Army Nurse Corps, and was stationed in Honolulu and Saipan in the Western Pacific. Following her active duty, she went on to serve for 33 years as a Nurse in the Army Reserves. She was also a Nurse at the Massachusetts General Hospital, retiring after 33 years.
    Alyce is survived by one brother, Paul D. Benn of Phoenix, AZ; one sister, Geraldine Duplichen of Houlton; and many nieces and nephews.
    Graveside services were held at the Evergreen Cemetery Thursday 2 p.m. with Rev. Arthur Myers as officiate. A service of Dunn Funeral Home.
