Holocaust author to present in Houlton
Hubert C. Kueter, author of My Tainted Blood, will visit Houlton on September 16th and 17th for two speaking engagements.
The community is invited to the HHS library at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday, September 16. Keuter will return to HHS the following morning for an assembly geared toward high school students.
“My Tainted Blood” recounts daily existence in Germany from 1933-1946. Kueter’s unique perspective comes from the experience of being half Jewish in highly racist times. Kueter’s mother made him promise to keep his Jewish heritage a secret, and Kueter complied until her death years later.
Kueter’s renowned humor contrasts sharply with the horrors of the time. His presentation comes highly recommended, and reviewers praise his book for its wit and charm.
Kueter is a former professor of German literature and language at Colby College.
