Houlton – Charles Raymond Clifford, Jr., 82, died Sept. 26, 2008, at his home. He was born May 22, 1926, in Clinton, the son of Charles Sr. and Doris (Kennedy) Clifford.
He graduated from Lawrence High School and served in the U.S. Army Air Force in WWII. He retired from Keyes Fibre Co. where he worked his entire working career, as a plant manager. He belonged to many pulp and paper orginizations. He married Emily W. McFarland June 16, 1951 who predeceased him July 2, 2008, after 57 years. They raised their family in Shawmut and built a beautiful camp on the ocean in Northport, which they enjoyed every summer. After retiring they spent winters in Zephyrhills, Fl.
He is survived by four childen, Carolyn Musgrave and her husband Nigel of Newport, R.I., William Clifford of Houlton, Susan McLaughlin and her husband Jon of Houlton and Elizabeth Adamz of Blackstone, Mass.; grand-children, James Musgrave and his wife Amyof Providence, R.I., Andrew Musgrave of Newport, R.I., Joshua McLaughlin and his wife Sarah and Jason McLaughlin of Houlton; great-grandchildren, Dawson McLaughlin and Lillian Musgrave; one sister, Beverly Crowell of Shawmut. He was predeceased by his parents; wife; son-in-law, Craig Adamz; and brothers, Keith, Robert, Ralph and Richard.
A graveside funeral service was held 11 a.m. Tue. at the St. Mary's Cemetery, Houlton with Father David Raymond as officiant. For Charlie’s love of dogs, donations may be made to the Houlton Humane Society, c/o Bowers Funeral Home, P.O. Box 579, Houlton, ME 04730.
