The Holy Rosary Church Homecoming scheduled for this weekend, Oct. 4 and 5, promises a number of family-friendly activities for people of all ages. First organized in 2005, the Homecoming Weekend was initially intended to be a one-time celebration. After exceeding all expectations, the weekend was repeated in 2007. This year, the third Holy Rosary Homecoming is featuring three events for the community to come together. On Saturday, Oct 4, at 7 p.m. one of the country’s top Elvis Presley entertainers, Robert Washington, brings his incredible singing voice and charismatic personality to the Caribou Performing Arts Center. Washington was featured in the movie “Almost Elvis,” has won numerous Elvis contests and has traveled around the world with his tribute to the King of Rock & Roll.
Tickets to the “Elvis comes to Caribou Show” are $10 for adults and $6 for students. Ticket outlets in Caribou include Sleepers, S.W. Collins and Caribou One-Stop. Tickets are also available at Trader Joe’s and S.W. Collins in Presque Isle and at Ezzy’s Music Shop in Van Buren.
On Sunday, Oct. 5, at 9 a.m. there will be a special Children’s mass which will showcase the many talents of the parish youth, including a Children’s Choir led by Laura Collins, and a liturgical dance led by Abby and Paige Small.
Also on Sunday, Oct. 5, starting at 10 a.m. in the Holy Rosary Parish Hall will be a Bountiful Sunday Brunch. The meal will include quiche, scrambled eggs, baked ham, home fries, baked beans, assorted sweet breads, muffins, pies, fresh cut fruit, plus coffee, tea and juice. Tickets for the Bountiful Sunday Brunch are $8 per person, children 12 and under $5 and will be available at the door.
In addition to building a stronger parish community, the Homecoming Weekend helps support Holy Rosary’s social programs and special needs.
