The New Sweden Extension Group met recently at the home of Bonnie Weatherhead with 17 members and one guest present.
Lou Skidgel presented the benefits of medicinal herbs and a reading was presented by Dot Tomilson. Bonnie Weatherhead shared photos and information about her recent trip to Utah, Nevada and California where she and her husband visited Salt Lake City, Reno, Tahoe, Las Vegas, seven national parks and other points of interest. Extension members discussed the donation made to the New Sweden School’s climbing wall fund, as well as the collection of can tabs and card fronts to benefit St. Jude’s projects.
A nominating committee was chosen to solicit nominations for prospective candidates for both the group’s secretary and treasurer positions.
Five members from the New Sweden Extension group planned to attend the Train-the-Trainer meeting Sept. 18 at the Presque Isle Extension office to learn about ‘Going Green,” computers and nutrition,
The state meeting is to be held in Portland this year on Oct. 17-18, and members were encouraged to make their arrangements to attend this event.
On November 1, the County Extension meeting will be held at the Caribou Inn and Convention Center. Registration will begin at 9:30 a.m., with the meeting starting at 10 a.m.
Members attending the meeting were asked to think about a new theme for the fair exhibit.
