ImageHARVEST BREAK? — Six area youth and two adults volunteered to harvest two pickup loads of corn in Benedicta, September 22 and 23 after a call from Leo McAvoy, owner of Mac’s Best Produce. Aroostook Milling donated the bags which held more than 3,600 ears of corn for distribution through the Salvation Army, Catholic Food Pantry, I-Care Food Pantry and the Pantry Distribution Center in Caribou. Corn was also distributed to senior citizen complexes.  Empowering Life, a Houlton resource center, and Volunteer Organizations Active in Disaster (VOAD), a disaster relief organization, coordinated the harvest.
