The Presque Isle Wildcats are no strangers to the state golf team tournament, held every year at Natanis Golf Club in Vassalboro.
Despite a hefty roster turnover, the ‘Cats have once again qualified  for the Class B tourney after placing fourth at the Penobscot Valley Conference State Qualifier held at JaTo Highlands in Lincoln Monday.     The top four teams earned a berth in the state event, which will be held Saturday, and Houlton was the winner with a stroke total of 343.
Hermon and Mattanawcook were second and third, respectively, with scores of 352 and 353, while PI was close behind with 356.
Porter Gervais of Houlton shared medalist honors with Foxcroft Academy’s Tony Gabarro. Both players shot an 82.
Presque Isle was led by Jordan Hallett with an 86. Jon Humphrey came in with an 87 and Travis Dyer shot an 89. All three players were among the 24 to qualify for the state individual tourney, set for Oct. 18, also at Natanis.
