To allay any concerns parents may have with any treats or fruit children receive during Halloween, the Houlton Police Department will have an X-ray machine available at our 97 Military Street location on October 31st from 5-9 p.m. This service is provided to residents of the greater Houlton area by the Houlton Police Department and the U.S. Customs and Border Protection field operations.
The procedure is perfectly safe and two Customs agents will be on-site to answer any questions parents may have. I encourage all parents to please take advantage of this free service.
Parking ban
The Houlton Police Department wishes to remind Houlton citizens, and those who park in Houlton, that the all night parking ban is in effect from Nov. 1, 2008 through March 31, 2009 for all streets in Houlton.
Police officers will be strictly enforcing the parking ban between the hours of 1 and 6 a.m.
The parking ban is in effect to allow the Department of Public Works to remove snow. Vehicles in violation will be ticketed. Vehicles that hinder snow removal will be removed at the owner’s expense.
The Houlton Police Department appreciates your cooperation and wishes everyone a safe winter.
