Green: Not just a partisan voice

To the editor:
This November, the voters of House District 6 have an important decision to make in selecting Jackie Lundeen’s successor. With a lagging economy, two mud-slinging presidential campaigns, and a cold winter approaching, it’s more vital than ever for the people of our region to take a look at which candidate is able to bring the needs of Aroostook County to Augusta and return with real solutions.  Mainers are fed up with politics and are looking for a voice — not just a partisan vote. In House District 6, Kyle R. Green represents that voice.
I have known Kyle for over 10 years, first as a role model in the SAD 1 music department and then as an educator, director, and finally, friend. Kyle is not only talented and intelligent, but he has a unique ability to instruct others, something which has allowed him to connect with students at Presque Isle High School and will make him a valuable representative for our region.
One of my fond memories of high school were discussions with “Mr. Green” about the issues facing our state. No matter how complex the issue, Kyle is able to separate what is important and what is worthless politics.
Besides being highly knowledgeable and passionate about the issues facing our state, Kyle has the wisdom to realize solutions are far more valuable than catch phrases. In this presidential election year, we’ve seen how everything from “Change” to “Joe the Plumber” has been repeated to the point of being meaningless. What makes me so confident in Kyle’s abilities as a state representative is his refusal to be drawn in by political rally cries which do nothing for the people of Maine. His experience in Westfield’s city government shows he’s able to make the decisions needed to lead our region. Kyle will work hard for solutions which bring real and lasting improvement to Maine.
Unlike so many viewpoints shared this election season, my endorsement of Kyle Green has nothing to do with party affiliation. I am a registered Republican and support a Republican in my home District 7, but looking at the District 6 race, the choice is clear. Kyle has the experience, the passion, and the ability Aroostook County needs, and I am proud to support him in the District 6 House race.
When the residents of Fort Fairfield, Westfield, Blaine, Bridgewater, and Mars Hill look to make the right choice at the polls this November, they needn’t look further than Kyle R. Green.
