PRESQUE ISLE – Ceremonies will be held in the Star City this weekend, honoring local veterans, past and present.
“The Aroostook County Young Marines ‘County Patriots’ will present a flag ceremony at the Wesleyan Church in Presque Isle. The first ceremony will begin at 6 p.m. on Saturday, Nov. 8. The main ceremony will begin at 10 a.m. Sunday, Nov. 9,” said Craig Fay, commanding officer of the County Patriots Young Marines.
Several dignitaries will be on hand for the special event. Refreshments will be served as well.
“This program is dedicated to brave men and women who accept the call to serve — those who leave loved ones and homes in defense of their nation. It’s for those who have served and returned, as well as those who’ve since passed away and for those who never returned,” said Fay.
“This very special patriotic ceremony reviews the development of our country with eight flags symbolizing different periods of our nation’s struggling history. Won’t you join our veterans and citizens in honoring them and our nation’s greatest God-given symbol, our symbol of freedom, our flag?” said Fay.
The event is free and open to the public.
