Oakfield seniors met at the Smoki-Haulers Snowmobile Club in Oakfield on Nov.5.
After the blessing on the food a delicious potluck luncheon was enjoyed.
Suzanne Russell from the Legal Services for the Elderly was the guest speaker. After introducing herself and explaining what services are available for people over 60, Suzanne asked, “Do you need a will?” She described the living will, the health power of attorney and the financial power of attorney for all documents that seniors should have.
Legal Services for the Elderly was established in 1974 with its’ headquarters in Augusta. They have six staff attorneys available to answer questions. In Aroostook, it is the Agency on Aging that helps seniors learn about and prepare these documents. Suzanne is available to host a clinic if there is enough interest in taking advantage of this service. Please let Mr. Locke know if you would like to participate in this clinic.
You may also call 1-800-750-5353 for more information.
