To the editor:
Let me start by saying to all of the citizens of Presque Isle who voted for me, thank you! Thank you for putting your trust and confidence in me as your next state representative. I next want to thank Beth Michaud for running a very commendable and honorable campaign. I want to thank my family for being so very supportive and for giving me the motivation to do what I needed to do to win my race. My wife kept me going from door to door, talking with the fine people of Presque Isle. I want to thank my daughters for making phone calls and knocking on doors on my behalf.
For all of the people who wrote such kind words about me in their letters to the editor, I thank you. Thank you Brad Johnson for letting me use your truck and for helping me with my big signs. And thanks to Paul Kinney for taking on the task of treasurer of my campaign. And even though she gone from the area now, I want to thank Jerolyn Cave for all she did for me. Jerolyn was the manager of the Presque Isle Democratic Office. Thanks to all of my supporters who allowed me to put those pesky campaign signs on your lawns and as promised, I got them off your lawns the day after the election.
Now that elections are over, the hard work begins. I look forward to do what I can to improve our way of life in northern Maine. I will do what I can to reduce spending and ease the tax burden we all have to deal with. I will do what I can to promote and attract new business to our area. And I will do what is needed to make sure our veterans get the support they deserve. And as long as I am your representative I will fight to keep local control of our schools.
Now to those who didn’t vote for me, I want to say that I am your representative too. Just because I didn’t get your vote doesn’t mean that you cannot let me know what is on your mind. To me, it doesn’t make a difference whether you are a Democrat, Republican, Green or Independent; I will listen to the concerns of all of the citizens of Presque Isle.
In closing I want to let you all know that I do not take the responsibility of being your state representative lightly and I consider it a great honor. Presque Isle and its citizenry are very well respected in Augusta and I will make it my mission to maintain and increase that level of respect.
Presque Isle
