When Brittany Harris came up with the idea to do a collection of needed items for the Central Aroostook Humane Society in Presque Isle, her friend, Justine Nason, loved the idea. They decided to get the community involved and together they organized a donation drive, consisting of collection boxes at the Ashland Food Mart and Ashland Community High School. The girls were very pleased with the response and, along with their own personal contributions, were able to deliver lots of goodies to the shelter at Christmastime.
Both Brittany and Justine are big animal lovers. Brittany has four pets: a dog, a cat, a rabbit and a fish. Justine has many pets: two dogs, five birds and several cats. If she lived closer, Brittany would love to volunteer at the shelter, as would Justine. However, this could prove to be a problem for their parents because the girls would want to take all of the animals home to live with them!
Brittany and Justine would like to thank everyone who donated to their cause. Brittany plans on doing another community drive in the future and has pledged to donate to the shelter as she can. Both girls urge others to do the same. Whether it be monetary, or your time, no donation is ever too small.
