Crouse retires
A Retirement Supper in honor of Eldon Crouse, Sr. for 34 years of service to the town of Blaine was held on Jan. 9 at the Central Aroostook High School. Attended by many friends and family members, the ham dinner was enjoyed by all.

Eldon is the oldest of six children of Kathleen and the late Wellington Crouse. He is married to Sherry Crouse and they have two sons, Eldon Jr. and Matt. Eldon Jr. and Heather live in Herman and have two children – Jenna and Brianne; Matt and Amanda live in Blaine and have two children – Hunter and Madison.
The master of ceremonies was Nathan Smith, chairman of the Blaine Town Council. He honored Ed for being a great public servant. He presented a plaque to Ed, which read: “The residents of the Town of Blaine would like to present this Stoeger/Condor 12 gauge over-under shotgun for the last 30 plus years of his diligent service to the town – 2008.”
Ed was also recognized for his 28 years of service to the volunteer fire department. His camp stories were a favorite of his fellow firefighters. He was also recognized by several individuals for his diligent work through the years – as well as his stories. Phil Gray spoke of working with Ed last year and of being the one that “finished him off!”
He was also recognized for working for the town of Mars Hill for a while. The memory that was remembered most was the canoe trip he took with someone – they turned over three times before getting out of site of the pick-up truck!
Congratulations, Ed, on your retirement. Thank you for a job well done.
