State Police busy for Valentine’s Day -Benefit turns ugly
OAKFIELD — The early hours of Saturday, Feb.14 had State Troopers busy in Oakfield with arrests. At half past midnight, Valentine’s Day, troopers responded to a complaint at the Oakfield Community Center that Thomas Frazier, a 21-year-old male, allegedly refused to leave and was starting fights.
Trooper Jed Malcore was the first responder to the complaint. Trooper Timmy Saucier said he responded a few minutes later and Frazier, according to the police report, “became assaultive toward Malcore.” After an altercation, Frazier was arrested and transported to the Aroostook County Jail where he was charged with assault, criminal trespass and disorderly conduct.
Saucier said that Frazier was “obviously intoxicated and extemely mouthy and belligerent” when he responded to the call.
By 3 a.m. Saucier and Malcore responded to another complaint in Oakfield, in part, stemming from the same benefit where there had been trouble just hours earlier.
According to the police report, 24-year-old Nathan Swallow and girlfriend Erin Fortier had argued at the Oakfield Community Center benefit and Fortier left for her residence at 30 River Road with Kathy Kennedy of Merrill. Swallow allegedly pointed a shotgun at the women and again at Fortier as she exited the vehicle.
Saucier said Swallow was extremely intoxicated and denied he had threatened the women.
The troopers seized a loaded firearm at the residence and arrested Swallow for terrorizing with a firearm. The charge was upgraded to a Class C felony because of the firearm.
At the Aroostook County Jail, a summons was written ordering Swallow to appear at the Houlton Superior Court March 19.
