THE PRESQUE ISLE HIGH SCHOOL senior class won this year’s snow sculpture competition with a score of 84 out of 96 points. During the annual Winter Carnival at PIHS, each class is assigned a mound of snow and has five days to complete a structure that is then judged and points awarded to the winning class.
In previous years, however, all the sculptures have been similar and adhered to a predetermined subject. With new ideas in mind, the student council set out to choose a new method of deciding the theme. Each class was given the task of choosing any idea they wanted, and the winner of the snow sculptures will determine the overall theme for the Winter Carnival, which begins after February vacation. The senior class has chosen a Disney theme. In this year’s snow sculpture competition, the junior class followed with 82 points, while the sophomores and freshmen tied for third points with 69 points.
