Maine Ketsugo and Karate Association held its annual awards ceremony, team fighting championships and individual grand championship in Trenton on January 24. Graves Institute of Self-Defense Houlton School brought home five of the coveted Best of the Best grand trophies, and they were also presented with yearly accomplishment awards. Students from left are, front, Kody McCordic, Best Attitude award; middle, Anthony Verville, grand champion winner and Most Improved; Tasha Ponder, double winner of individual and team championship; and Jacob Jones, Student of the Year; back, John Sanders, Most Dedicated; Donald Devoe III, grand champion winner; Donald Devoe, Most Supportive Parent Team with wife Lisa; and Sensei Jay Holck, senior executive grand champion.
