BANGOR – This Friday and Saturday, March 13 and 14, the top high school senior basketball student-athletes in the state will join together for the Maine McDonald’s High School Senior All-Star Basketball Weekend at Newman Gymnasium on the campus of Husson University in Bangor.
The following athletes have been nominated and will represent their respective Aroostook County schools.
Matthew Till, Caribou High School, Regional Foul Shooting Championship; Manny Martinez, Central Aroostook High School, All-Star player; Russ Mortland, Presque Isle High School, All-Star player; Sarah Porter, Presque Isle High School, All-Star academic.
Nominated for All-Star coach, Tim Brewer of Central Aroostook High School will be helping to coach the C/D East boys basketball team over the weekend.
The event is a salute to the top high school senior student-athletes and coaches from across Maine.
More than 100 individuals representing 67 high schools will be honored for their achievements both on and off the basketball court at the All-Star Banquet at 7:15 p.m. on Friday night, March 13, and at the games on Saturday, March 14, beginning at 8:30 a.m. with the State Foul Shooting Championship.
The games on Saturday are open to the public and tickets are available at the door.
Tickets are $7 for adults and $5 for students and senior citizens.
Net proceeds from tickets, souvenir sales and programs go to the Ronald McDonald House Charities® (RMHC) of Maine. The Charity, in turn, fulfills grant requests from other non- profit organizations across Maine working to help Maine children and families lead happier, healthier, and more productive lives.
Since establishing the Maine chapter in 1989, RMHC has contributed more than $1.5 million to a variety of needy Maine organizations.
