“These funds could not come at a better time,” said Susan Failing, a member of the Aroostook County branch’s advisory council as she accepted the gift from Katahdin Trust Company.
“We are extremely delighted to support this annual fund-raising effort,” said Vicki Smith, senior vice president of marketing and communications at Katahdin Trust Company. “It provides a great opportunity for our customers and employees to help those in need in our local area who are coping with a disaster.”
Failing, director of program quality of Red Cross health and safety partner agency Community Living Association in Houlton noted that “there have been more house fires and other disasters affecting County residents this winter than ever before, and the Red Cross local disaster relief fund is running low. Thanks to this gift, the bank’s generous customers and staff will be helping their friends and neighbors with the emergency shelter, food, clothing and emotional support that the Red Cross is here to provide whenever it is needed.”
According to Aroostook County branch manager Joyce Knorr, “the local Red Cross depends on generous County contributors for its disaster relief and other important services.” Knorr added that “Katahdin Trust Company has been a valued partner of the local Red Cross for years. We are very proud and pleased to call them our friends, our supporters, and our partners in service to the people of Aroostook County.”
