Katahdin Trust Company President and CEO Jon Prescott, has announced the promotions of Matthew Nightingale to senior vice president, treasurer and chief financial officer; Vicki Smith to senior vice president, marketing and communications; and Jeff Pangburn and Craig Staples to vice president and commercial services officer. “These individuals have earned these promotions by exhibiting tremendous dedication and commitment to Katahdin Trust Company and are highly valued members of our team,” said Prescott.
Nightingale joined Katahdin Trust Company in 1998 as accounting assistant. He was promoted to assistant treasurer in 2000; assistant vice president and controller in 2003; vice president and controller in 2005; and in 2006 was named vice president, treasurer and CFO.
A New Limerick native, Nightingale attended County Road Baptist School and Pensacola Christian Academy, attained his B.S. in accounting from Pensacola Christian College and M.S. in business from Husson University. He has also completed the Northern New England School of Banking in Durham, N.H. and the New England School of Banking at Williams College in Massachusetts. He serves as chairperson for The County Open, director for Greater Houlton Christian Academy, treasurer for East Hodgdon Bible Church, and membership chair for Houlton Rotary Club. Nightingale resides in New Limerick with his wife Heidi and three children, Kathryn, Alyssa and Emery.
Smith joined Katahdin Trust Company in 1997 as assistant vice president and marketing officer with over 20 experience in the financial services industry. She was promoted to vice president, marketing officer in 1998 and in 2003 was named senior vice president, marketing officer.
A native of Westfield, Smith is a graduate of Northern Maine Community College and the American Bankers Association School of Bank Marketing and Management, received her general banking diploma from the Northern New England Center for Financial Training and has been awarded the designation as a Certified Financial Marketing Professional (CFMP) from the Institute of Certified Bankers. She currently serves on the executive committee of the Northern Maine Community College Foundation and as a member of the Maine Association of Community Banks marketing committee and Houlton Rotary Club. Smith has previously served as vice president of Leaders Encouraging Aroostook Development; president of the Houlton Rotary Club, Aroostook Association of Chambers of Commerce, Aroostook County Group and Maine Chapter of Financial Women International and Mars Hill and Blaine Community Club; chairperson of the Westfield Jubilee Committee; a member of Caribou Rotary Club and Aroostook’s Promise for Children and Youth and was recognized with the Spirit of Caribou Award. She and her husband, George, Jr., reside in Westfield.
Pangburn joined Katahdin Trust Company in 2004 as commercial services officer with three years experience as an economic development specialist. In 2007 he was promoted to assistant vice president, commercial services officer.
A Mars Hill native, he attained his B.A from University of Maine at Farmington, M.S. in business from Husson University and completed the Northern New England School of Banking in Durham, N.H. Pangburn serves as treasurer for Presque Isle Rotary Club and board member for Local Workforce Investment Board. He and his wife Nora reside in Presque Isle with their two sons, Jacob and Evan.
Staples joined the bank in 2005 as assistant vice president, commercial services officer with over 20 years’ experience in the financial services industry.
A Caribou native, he attained his B.S. in public accounting from Husson University, completed the Maine Economic Development Professional Certification Program and received his Commercial Lending, Consumer Lending and Foundations of Banking Diplomas from the American Institute of Banking (AIB). Staples is president and loan committee chair for Caribou Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Northern Maine Brownfield committee member for Northern Maine Development Commission, coaches Aroostook Youth Basketball League and Aroostook Girls Softball League, and serves on various projects at the Gray Memorial United Methodist Church in Caribou. In 2007 he was named Katahdin Trust Company’s America’s Promise Volunteer of the Year for his outstanding involvement with youth. He and his wife Annette reside in Caribou with their two children, Kyle and Emily.
