Mapleton Ladies Extension
The Mapleton Ladies Extension will be having their next monthly meeting Monday, April 13 at 7 p.m. at the Lion’s Hall. The group will be working on a craft project and invite any new (or former) members to attend. Please contact Liz Brewer at 764-3427 for more information.
Dinner and Dancing
The Mapleton Daze Committee is hosting an evening of dinner and dancing Saturday, March 28 at the Lion’s Hall. The dinner will consist of beans, hot dogs, chop suey, coleslaw, rolls, and dessert. Dinner will be served from 4:30-6 p.m. followed by entertainment provided by Sound Friendships from 6-9 p.m. Tickets will be sold at the door. Adults: dinner $6/entertainment $5 or a combination ticket for $10. Children 10 and under: dinner $3/entertainment $3 or a combination ticket for $5. Please come and help support the 21st annual Mapleton Daze Weekend scheduled for June 26-28.
Quilts for local children
Do you like to sew? Do you have piles of scrap material that you don’t know what to do with? Would you like to help keep local children warm next winter? If you have been looking for a worthy cause to donate your time and energy to, here’s a suggestion. Several women have banded together to start making quilts for children in our tri-community that may be in need of something to keep them warm. The idea is to make 10.5-inch x 10.5-inch squares in any colors or prints (using 100 percent cotton fabric), keeping in mind that they will be in quilts for children newborn to 18 years of age. Patterns are available by seeing Sue Skidgell at the Mapleton Town Office, or you can use your own pattern. Donations of fabric are also welcome. Any finished squares or fabric donations can be dropped off at the Town Office. If you would like to help sew, quilt, or bind these quilts, please let Sue know! You can contact her at home at 769-8741. Let’s share our talents to benefit our local children this coming Christmas!
Mapleton Lions Club Supper & Auction
The Mapleton Lions Club’s 46th annual supper and auction will be May 2 at the Lion’s Hall.
Mark your calendar and plan to attend this fund-raiser in support of our Lion’s Club and their local charities. Come enjoy a ham and bean dinner and stay for the auction where over 400 items and service gift certificates will be sold. There will many good deals to take advantage of!
Mapleton Elementary School
Have you noticed the colorful coupons on some of your grocery packaging that say “Box Tops for Education?” Have you wondered what they were for and who might benefit from them? What about the point coupons on the back of Campbell’s soup and Spaghetti O’s cans? Well, the students at the Mapleton Elementary School, under the direction of the Mapleton Parents Organization, have an on-going fund-raiser and would welcome the support of the community! All you need to do is cut out the “Box Tops” from any participating company’s product or remove the soup labels from your Campbell’s soup cans (as well as other Campbell’s products). If you have a student that attends MES, place those box tops and point coupons in a small bag and send it to school! If you would like your student to be eligible for monthly drawings for various prizes, write their name, grade and teacher on the back of the box tops. Anyone can collect these items and send them to the school or drop them off in the Main Office. The MPO receives 10 cents for each box top and credit toward products for the school with the Campbell’s points. What a great way to help the students in the community and do a little recycling in the process!
Mapleton Parents Organization
The MPO welcomes any parents interested in helping out with various activities during the school year. If you have a desire to contribute in any way, please consider attending our next meeting Wednesday, April 8 at the school. Some of the organization’s upcoming events include the spring book fair and Teacher Appreciation Week celebrations in May. Childcare is provided. The United Methodist Church luncheon will be held Friday, March 20 at 11:30 a.m. Everyone is welcome to come.
Mapleton Baptist Church News
“March Gladness” is a fun-filled, month-long promotion of the Mapleton Baptist Sunday School. All members are placed on a team to help encourage each other, as well as have an enjoyable time as they learn God’s word in their classes. Points can be earned by attendance, inviting people to Sunday School, Bible memorization and a special surprise point that is announced each week. Sunday School begins at 9:30 a.m. Classes are available for all ages. The church building is handicapped accessible. The morning worship service begins at 10:45 a.m.
Our prayer meeting is held at the home of Charlotte Tarbell, 7 p.m. Wednesday nights. There is also a daytime study at 12:30 p.m. Fridays at Maple Tree Estates on the Hughes Road. Interested persons are welcome to attend.

MAPLETON DAISY TROOP 1133 celebrated Girl Scout Week by attending the morning service at the Mapleton United Baptist Church Sunday, March 8. The girls greeted parishioners, handed out bulletins, and collected the offering. During the service, the scouts introduced themselves and recited the Girl Scout Promise.
