The Forum is the place to go for the fun activities. At the Forum, there are events and games for people to attend.
One of the well-known activities is ice skating. Ice skating usually runs from November until March. The Forum is open for skating on Tuesday, Thursday, Friday, Saturday, and Sunday. The Forum is open to skating almost every school vacation from 1:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m., in addition to the regular schedule. At the Forum, you can rent skates and get them sharpened. A skating aid is available for kids, and there are handicap sleds. “Skater Savers” are booklets of tickets that you can buy to save money and time by not buying a new ticket each time you go. The Forum also has hockey and games.
In March, the Forum holds a musical on ice show sponsored by the Skating Club of Maine. At the musical, you can watch local talented performers while you sit in the bleachers and enjoy.
The Anah Temple Shrine Circus comes to the Forum in May each year. The circus has many animals, treats, and performers to entertain you. They sometimes give elephant rides to kids!
The Forum holds a spring “Trash and Treasure Sale” annually. It’s like a huge garage sale! There, you can find clothes, games, toys, and beauty products. Sometimes there are even food stands!
There have been performers at the Forum. Some of them were, Dr. Hook, Anne Murray, Freddy Fender, and Alice Cooper. Also, Muhammad Ali was in a boxing match there in 1980! The Forum also held a Miss Presque Isle pageant in 1981, and a World Wrestling Federation fight in 1985.
During the winter, I go skating every Friday night and I go to the circus every May. I love going to the circus to watch all the clowns and to get autographs. I have always tried to get a ride on the elephants, but I couldn’t get up in the line on time. Maybe this year! I always catch a balloon when the clowns shoot them into the audience. The skating rink is a great place to go to have fun with your friends. When I go skate, we all fall and laugh at each other.
