Tennis coaches’ workshop

    The Houlton Parks and Recreation Department will be hosting a United States Tennis Association (USTA) Recreational Coaches Workshop in May.
    The department had to apply to the USTA for this special workshop to take place in this area.
    The workshop is on Thursday, May 28 from 9 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. at the Houlton Recreation Department. Cost is $25 per person, which includes all materials and lunch. Registration deadline is April 27. To register, contact the Houlton Recreation Department at 532-1310.
    Anyone interested in learning the basics of teaching/coaching tennis or seeking a refresher on more current methods and effective tools should attend this USTA Workshop. The workshop is taught by a specially trained, certified teaching professional. This active session will cover the top 10 games every teacher/coach should know; teaching large groups, game-based approach to tennis, and running effective team practices and classes for youth.
