To the editor:
A “We Surround Them” meet-up group affiliated with a new movement swelling in the United States has been formed in Aroostook County as a reaction to the economic crisis. The 912 Project, headed by TV personality Glenn Beck, gets its name from the day after 9-11. Glenn Beck’s policy emphasizes the importance of nine principles and 12 values that he says have been lost in America today.
An Aroostook County “We Surround Them” group was formed on March 15 and is up and running to identify traditional conservatives in the County and to encourage their participation in the political process.
The Nine Principles are:
• America is good.
• I believe in God and He is the Center of my Life.
• I must always try to be a more honest person than I was yesterday.
• The family is sacred. My spouse and I are the ultimate authority, not the government.
• If you break the law you pay the penalty. Justice is blind and no one is above it.
• I have a right to life, liberty and pursuit of happiness, but there is no guarantee of equal results.
• I work hard for what I have and I will share it with who I want to. Government cannot force me to be charitable.
• It is not un-American for me to disagree with authority or to share my personal opinion.
• The government works for me. I do not answer to them, they answer to me.
The Twelve Values are: Honesty, Reverence, Hope, Thrift, Humility, Charity, Sincerity, Moderation, Hard Work, Courage, Personal Responsibility, and Gratitude.
Beck’s nine principles and 12 values have been lost in a swirl of greed and corruption. We agree with Glenn Beck and hundreds of thousands of other Americans that these principles and values must be restored before things can get better. We believe there is still a conservative majority in America; this 912 Project will help us find each other.
