Almira (Weston) Kingsley, 89, formerly of 18 Park St., Caribou, Maine died on Friday April 10, 2009, at Diamond Ridge Health & Rehab Center, Lecanto, Florida. Almira was born in Limestone, Maine on June 4, 1919, daughter of Charles and Alice Weston. Almira was a graduate of Caribou High School class of 1938. She was interested in a teaching career; attended Aroostook State Normal School, Presque Isle, Maine, 1938-1942. Her first teaching assignment was in a one-room school (grades 1-8) in Aroostook County, Woodland, Maine. She continued with her education, receiving a Bachelor of Science Degree in 1979 from the Univ. of Maine, Portland. She retired after her last teaching assignment in Lewiston, Maine. Her dedicated teaching ambition was helping children in the early elementary grades to develop learning skills. She moved to Leesburg, Florida in 1986.
She is survived by her brother Darrell W. Weston and wife Dolores of Beverly Hills, Florida, nieces, grand nieces, nephews, grand nephews. Almira was pre-deceased by her husband Darrell Kingsley of Fort Fairfield, Maine her parents, brothers Newell, Floyd, Ronald, sisters Marion Lister, Wanetta Tompkins, Elouise Strout, Madelyn Weston.
Graveside services will be held on Thursday April 16, 2009 at 9:30 a.m. at the Cavalry Cemetery in South Portland. Conroy- Tully Crawford Funeral Home of Portland, Maine.
