Southern Aroostook
National Honor Society
The Southern Aroostook Community High School chapter of the National Honor Society plans four service projects throughout each year. The best known is with the American Red Cross Society in an annual blood drive. The Red Cross particularly welcomed this year’s drive since many of their other plans had fallen victim to weather and flu seasons; while students manage the drive, registration, set-up and takedown and the canteen.
NHS is grateful for the community participation. Several repeat donors expect the drive and even schedule their other donations to be eligible for this one. Each year Southern Aroostook also welcomes many first-time donors.
Later this month, the Southern Aroostook Chapter will be joining other chapters from the region for the MS walkathon in Presque Isle. In May, the members will host a recognition dinner for grades six to 12 honor roll students and their parents. In June they will host the annual academic awards day where teachers recognize individual student achievements.
