Kate puts a lot of effort into everything she does and is an excellent student.”
Donovan Savage, a grade-five member of the “Sur-five-ors” team, was recognized by his teachers, Mr. Travis Barnes, Mrs. Jola Hebert and Mrs. Kim Barnes as their Student of the Month for April. “Donovan is a natural leader whom his peers and teachers alike, respect. His attention to detail and eagerness to learn have earned him Highest Honor Roll status throughout the fifth grade. He is a member of the gifted and talented academic and gifted and talented art programs.
Donovan serves as a student representative for his homeroom, as well as being a talented athlete. He is compassionate beyond his years and always has a smile on his face.”
Lauren Chapman, a member of the “Six-Ceeders” team, was selected as Student of the Month for April by her teachers, Mrs. Cathy Bouchard, Mr. John Pelletier and Mrs. Ruth Dionne. The CMS staff said of Lauren, “Lauren is an honor roll student who is involved in a variety of Caribou Middle School activities. She is a member of the cross country team, track team, cross-country ski team, chorus and is her classroom’s student organization representative.
Lauren is friendly and respectful to her classmates as well as to her teachers. She is always willing to help a fellow peer who is struggling with his/her homework. She brightens up the classroom every day with her fantastic smile and cheerful personality.”
Dustin Bouchard, a grade-six member of the WOWS team was named Student of the Month for April by his teachers Mrs. Deede Duncan and Mrs. Donna Holmes. The two CMS teachers stated, “ Dustin stands high on the list of great characteristics that a sixth-grader needs to possess. He is tops when it comes to being a friend to his classmates, always a vote of confidence or a helping hand is readily given.”
“Dustin is a wonderful example of the all-around boy,” they continued, “he loves to read mysteries and exhibits excellence in his writing skills. His respect for teachers and coaches is evident in his consistent Honor Roll status and his improvement in sports and in music. Academics are followed by his prowess in playing the trombone,” Duncan and Holmes added. “ His love of baseball is just that, he ‘loves it’. He enjoys watching it and playing on his Little League team. His favorite positions are first base and that of pitcher. Dustin’s favorite team is the Mets and in a Red Sox climate he can hold his own,” his teachers also noted.
Taylor Hartley, a grade-seven student on the “STAR” team, was selected by her teachers, Mr. Roger Thompson and Mrs. Holly Rhinebolt, as Student of the Month for April. Her teachers said, “We see Taylor as a cooperative student who reaches out to her many friends and classmates. As part of the criteria for receiving this award, she is always willing to offer a helping hand to her teachers and to her fellow classmates. She also willingly accepts her responsibilities and commitments to each of them. She does not only get along well with others, she also demonstrates a model student for them to see as she works in the classroom, keeping on task and showing a concern for doing well in her academic work.”
“Taylor enjoys talking and hanging around with her friends. She participates in many activities such as CMS band, swimming, Girl Acouts, church activities and being with her family. Her favorite subject in school is ELA. Taylor has good memories of her trip up to the mountains to help with a church. Among the many busy activities and times spent working on her school work, Taylor loves to find time in her life when she can just sit down and relax with a good book,” continued the CMS staff members.
“It is surely no surprise to her teachers that she has been chosen as Student of the Month as Taylor is definitely deserving of this special award by being such an exemplary student both academically and socially.”
Adam Collins is the Student of the Month for April from the grade seven “SWAT” team, chosen by team teachers Ms. Shelly Richardson, Mrs. Mary Curtis and Mr. Steve Perreault. “Adam is a young person who seems to be involved in so many different things, said his teachers, “he loves to play sports and is very good at them, He was a leading scorer on both the soccer and basketball teams this year and he also played on the Caribou AYBL team this winter. He is also a member of this spring’s CMS baseball team.”
“Sports is not Adam’s only interest,” continued his teachers, “at school, Adam shows many leadership qualities and academic excellence. He is a High Honor Roll student and works hard on a daily basis in classes. He is a model of citizenship, leadership and kindness here at CMS.”
Nolan McDuffie has been named Student of the Month for April by Caribou Middle School eighth-grade team teachers Mrs. Courtney Boma, Mr. Ralph Fantasia, Mrs. Jessica Dow, Mrs. Shannon Sleeper and Mr. Troy Barnes. Nolan’s teachers stated, “Nolan has been an outstanding student throughout the entire year. He’s very considerate of others and strives to do his best and this is demonstrated by being a member of the eighth-grade leadership team as well as being an Honor Roll student all year.”
“Coupled with being dedicated to his studies, Nolan has been very active with extracurricular activities,” added the teachers, “he’s been a member of the band as well as participating in the soccer, cross-country skiing and baseball teams.”
Kayla Cormier has been chosen by eighth-grade teachers, Mrs. Courtney Boma, Mr. Ralph Fantasia, Mrs. Jessica Dow and Mrs. Shannon Sleeper as their Student of the Month for April. “Kayla was chosen because of her willingness to help others and her ability to set an example for all who attend CMS,” stated the grade-eight teachers. “She is a member of the soccer team, grade-eight leadership team, the Civil Rights team and talent search here at Caribou Middle School.”
“Kayla dances at the Maine Dance Academy, plays the piano and volunteers at the Maine Veteran’s Home. She is always willing to help a fellow classmate, or teacher, often without being asked. Kayla is a wonderful rode model to all students and sets a great example regarding schoolwork and the treatment of fellow classmates, teachers and other adults.”
